BACKCOUNTRY EN VILLA LA ANGOSTURA

Mountains, snow, backcountry, and Patagonian hospitality

At Rancho Huemul, winter lives far beyond the slopes. Ski touring, splitboarding, and snowshoe trekking let you discover Patagonia’s untouched landscapes, while the warmth of our lodge, home-cooked meals, and the peaceful forest invite you to embrace each day at a different pace.

Rancho 1770m

Small groups of up to four people per guide to explore the mountain beyond the slopes. Skiers and snowboarders can share the experience, as long as they have a similar riding level. Helmets and avalanche safety gear (beacon, shovel, and probe) are mandatory, and every day begins with a briefing and practice session at Rancho1770m.

Snowshoe Trekking

Our snowshoeing excursions are designed to enjoy the winter scenery at a peaceful and accessible pace. The routes take place on carefully selected terrain with no avalanche risk, so helmets and rescue gear are not required. An ideal experience to discover the mountain with family at a different rhythm, surrounded by snowy forests and privileged views of Patagonia.

Freeride · Backcountry

Our freeride days are designed to make the most of the snow conditions and adapt to the level and expectations of each group. From wide, open and fluid slopes to more technical descents between rocks and chutes, the mountain offers options for all tastes.

The proposal consists of making three to four runs during the day, accumulating between 1,000 and 1,200 meters of skiable vertical drop. Each outing takes place in small groups and is guided by professionals who select the itineraries based on the conditions and the experience of the participants.
